A novelist, Mr S.P. Chari, has claimed that the story of the movie Magadheera has been copied from his novel Chanderi.
Mr Chari, alleged that the movie makers have copied the story from Chanderi which appeared as a serial in 1998 (between 30 April1 and 31 December) in the Telugu daily Andhra Bhoomi.
He said he would approach the court if the producer, Mr Allu Aravind, did not give him the credit for the story.
“I wrote Chanderi on the concept of reincarnation of two lovers who lived in Chanderi and Orcha kingdoms of Madhya Pradesh around 400 years ago. In my novel the lovers commit suicide by jumping into a well and are reborn in this century to get married. The movie makers have merely changed the names of the lead actors from Haradaul to Harsha and Indumathi to Indira and made this movie. The villain’s role got changed from hero’s own brother to a cousin. The rest of the story remains the same,” the writer said.
